Associate Professor Alf Gunvald Nilsen has published a new book with Oxford University Press.
Hovedinnhold
The book New Subaltern Politics: Reconceptualizing Hegemony and Resistance in India, which Nilsen has co-edited with Dr. Srila Roy at the Department of Sociology at the University of the Witwatersrand focuses on how different subaltern groups in India today - for example, Dalits, slumdwellers, sexual minorities and small and marginal peasants - develop collective strategies for redistribution and recognition. The book's theoretical framework is developed through a critical dialogue with the Subaltern Studies project, which has had a formative influence on postcolonial studies of power and resistance. Consisting of ten contributions from leading international researchers, the book will be of great interest across disciplines in the social sciences and the humanities.
