Marine Biological Station
The Department of Biology at the University of Bergen not only has specialized laboratories and research installations in the main campus in downtown Bergen, it is also responsible for the Espeland Marine Biological Station. The Station (also known as Espegrend) is located in the Raunefjord, 20 km south of downtown Bergen and close to the airport.
The station has a number of specialised facilities. It is internationally well-known for is mesocosm facility.
At Espeland there is very good access to diverse and well described marine habitats and model environments. The station comprises a boarding house, boats, laboratories and basic equipment for marine research.
