On Wednesday, September 25th, a collaborative group of researchers, industry representatives, and users, proudly presented the outcomes of the COST Action on Media Accessibility (LEAD-ME, CA19142) at the EU COST premises in Brussels. The event was honored by the attendance of Katrin Langensiepen, a Member of the European Parliament and a prominent advocate within the Disability Intergroup.
Supported by TV 2 Skole and Schibsted accessibility leaders, researchers from SFI MediaFutures’ WP4 on Media Content Interaction and Accessibility have played a crucial role in the success of this initiative. With this team of experts and researchers from Oslo and Bergen, two significant COST LEAD-ME events could be carried out in Norway. The most recent of these events took place on September 16th and 17th in Oslo, where around 50 researchers, PhD candidates, and industry experts convened at TV 2 Skole and Schibsted to discuss cutting-edge advancements in digital learning and media accessibility. The initial event took place at the MediaFutures locations in Bergen on 3th and 4th October 2022.
Today’s event at the EU COST premises also marks an exciting kickoff for the UiB Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) research group’s commitment to enhancing digital accessibility. In collaboration with industry partners, Professor Morten Fjeld announced plans for dedicated lab spaces focused on accessible digital learning and media at the University of Bergen, further reinforcing MediaFutures’ and the University of Bergen’s dedication to this vital field.
