The faculty's NFR-timeline Spring 2025
In collaboration with the Faculty of Social Science, the Faculty of Humanities has developed an ‘NFR Timeline’ for researchers considering or planning to apply for a FRIPRO or thematic research project call from the Research Council of Norway (NFR). This timeline consists of several workshops designed to assist in the development of your application, ensuring it can be finalized and submitted by Spring 2025. About the event
The first event this Spring is an Application Reading Day, open to academic staff at all career stages who are considering or planning to apply for NFR research project funding.
During this event, you will have the opportunity to review successful NFR applications from both thematic and FRIPRO calls and see how a successful project can be structured. Please note that the applications will be available only as paper copies and cannot be taken out. You are welcome to drop by at any time during the day and stay as long as you wish.
To make the most of this event, we recommend that you familiarize yourself with the call documents and understand all the criteria for eligibility prior to attending.
About the calls
FRIPRO calls - Open-ended deadline
FRIPRO is an open, national competetive arena that promotes free, basic and excellent research. There are no thematic restrictions; the project ideas come from the researchers themselves. FRIPRO has three calls, each call have specific criteria regarding the project leader’s experience, project duration, and funding limits. The applications are reviewed on an ongoing basis, which means you can apply at any time. You can only be the project leader for one application at a time.
Thematic calls - Deadline 5th March (Norwegian call only)
These calls cover several themes, and you must direct your application to one of them. Similar to FRIPRO, the thematic calls have specific criteria regarding the project leader’s experience, project duration, and funding limits. You can only be the project leader for one thematic application at a time. This restriction does not include FRIPRO applications, so you can be a project leader for one thematic call and one FRIPRO call simultaneously.
