Project: Space reduction at the Faculty of Medicine

The space optimization group needs your input on optimizing the faculty’s use of space.

Main content

The Faculty Board at the Faculty of Medicine has established a space optimization group to assess how to optimize the use of space within the faculty. The goal is to reduce the faculty’s total space usage by at least 10 %.

We need your help to achieve this goal! Do you have ideas, suggestions, or input on how we can use our facilities more efficiently? Send your thoughts to the email inbox: areal.med@uib.no

Why reduce space?

  • Financial: The faculty’s budget has become tighter, and the rental costs for 2025 amount to NOK 125 million. Lower rental costs will provide better financial control, free up resources for core activities, and ensure better coverage of salary expenses in the coming years.
  • Efficiency: Better utilization of space can lead to more research collaboration and innovation, new partnerships, and improved use of equipment.
  • Environmental impact: Less space means lower energy consumption and reduced environmental impact.

Your input can make a big difference! Together, we can create a more sustainable and efficient faculty.
