As we move further along in the 21st century, it will be necessary for businesses to compete in a more global arena. The management of cultural diversity in the workplace can be considered a response to the need to recognize, respect and capitalize on the different backgrounds in our society in terms of race, ethnicity, and gender.
This is also a challenge for multinational organizations. Different cultural groups have different work values may have a substantial effect on their preferences with regards to leadership, communication styles, teamwork and rewards. Identifying such differences and their potential implications for a healthy and productive work environment represent one important step for the development of efficient human resource management. This is a focus of a series of studies in multinational organizations undertaken by the research group.
