Jarle was a much loved colleague and mentor for many junior doctors and young scientists. He has in particular been instrumental for the establishment of Bergen Abdominal Imaging Research Group and largely contributing in the MedViz network, where he served as Chairman of the Steering Board from 2010 to 2017. Jarle was as strong advocator of the importance of bridging the gap between the clinical and basic sciences, and he initiated numerous successful transdisciplinary research projects in Bergen. He also established a broad network and collaborative initiatives nationally e.g. in the Norwegian Radiological Society in which he founded RadForsk – the Research Institute of the society. Jarle also had numerous international collaborations and was actively involved in the European Society of Urogenital Radiology.
Jarle’s passing is an incredible loss for all his friends and colleagues at the University of Bergen and at Haukeland University Hospital. He will be dearly missed.
