One Ocean Field Course 2021

As an alternative to the traditional ACDC summer scholl we are offering a field based course for the fall semester 2021. This will take place onboard the sailing vessel Statsraad Lehmkuhl, as part of the One Ocean Expedition from Curacao (Nov. 8th) via Kingston and Havana (Nov. 24th) with an option to continue to Nassau (Dec. 2nd).

As in the traditional ACDC courses, focus will be on climate dynamics including an interdisplinary group of students and lectures. Instead of traditional lectures, we will have weekly webinars starting in September 2021, followed by a 2-3 week field course onboard the tall ship which has been equipped with state of the art oceanographic and metereological instrumentation.

Focus will be on the UN Ocean Decade with projects relating to ocean climate, extreme weather, ocean pollution, sustainable fisheries and more. Details can be found here: https://chess.w.uib.no/event/chess-acdc-one-ocean-field-course-2021/?ins...

Application deadline is the 18th of June, 2021: https://skjemaker.app.uib.no/view.php?id=10505183

There is limited funding for qualified applicants from CHESS for Norwegian PhDS and ACER for North American PhDs (your advisor will know if you are a partner in either project, if not your insitute will have to cover the costs).
