Hovedinnhold

How is sexual motivation regulated in the brain? What does make a rat attractive to another rat? Are they attracted by their beautiful song, their pleasant smell, or their dance they perform before and during the sexual interaction? But more importantly, how does the brain perceive these incentives and communicate the proper responses to the body.

Eelke Snoeren (born 1983) started studying sexual behavior in rats at the beginning of her carrier. She obtained her PhD in the topic “in search for animal models for female sexual dysfunctions” at the Utrecht University in The Netherlands in 2010 and continued studying this fascinating behavior, with emphasis on sexual motivation, as postdoctoral fellow at the University of Tromsø in Norway. Now Eelke is working as associate professor at the University of Tromsø. In her current projects, she will focus more on the brain mechanisms behind sexual motivation and behavior.
