The members of Work Package 1 of Media Futures Research project traveled to Oslo to visit partners at NRK, Schibsted and University of Oslo. They participated in workshops with University of Oslo, organized with the department of Media and Communications research, NRK as well as Schibsted.
Work package co-leader, professor Hallvard Moe says: “The trip was an important opportunity to visit our partners, meet with them, and get to know them better. We also got a chance to better understand their concerns and how to better collaborate with them in the future.”
The trip was also the first time Professor II, Irene Costera Meijer from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, got to visit the partners in Oslo as well as the group in Bergen since the Media Futures research center started. She was happy to be back in Norway and feels reconnected and inspired after her visit.
In the workshops both the research group members, as well as the industry partners got to present their work, and exchange ideas about how to solve problems related to common interests, especially related to researching and reaching young audiences as a future news audience. The group also got the chance to tour the VG newsroom and learn more about how they are working on providing valuable content for young audiences.
Hallvard concludes: “Now we have lots of new ideas about how we can work on fundamentally applicable research to create innovative insights.”
