FIRST AID
When an accident happens, it’s always good to know basic first aid. An introduction to first aid and life-saving first aid is available at sikresiden.no
Familiarise yourself with where you can find the nearest first aid kit for minor stab and cut injuries. Procedures for handling stab and cut injuries are described on the HSE-gateway. In the event of more serious injuries, such as exposure to particularly toxic chemicals, the emergency room or an ambulance must be called. Also inform a colleague who can be of assistance. In case of exposure to hazardous chemicals, remember to download the material safety data sheet that can be shown to the doctor.
- Call the Emergency room: 116 117
- Call the medical emergency number: 113
- Call Poisons Information Centre (open 24 hours a day) 22 59 13 00

Upon opening the defibrillator, a voice is activated which tells you how to proceed. Its easy to change language between English and Norwegian. The defibrillator will not shock if the patient has a pulse, so don’t be afraid to do something wrong.
The bag with the defibrillator is also contains:
- Scissor, if necessary to cut off clothes
- Razor blade to ensure good connection between the electrodes and the skin.
- Cloth to wipe the skin for attaching the electrodes.
Remember to call the emergency number 113, tell where you are, follow instructions and send someone to receive the first aid response team.
