Main content

Creative Europe comprises three main pillars: Culture, Media, and Cross-sectoral. The Culture pillar supports cultural and creative organizations and professionals in working across borders, reaching new audiences, and developing their skills and competencies. The Media pillar aids the European audiovisual sector in producing, distributing, and promoting high-quality content that reflects Europe's diversity and values. The Cross-sectoral pillar supports cross-cutting initiatives fostering policy cooperation, innovation, research, and data collection in the cultural and creative sectors.

Who is it for?

Creative Europe provides opportunities to enhance research, education, and outreach activities in the cultural and creative sectors. All EU and associated counties organizations that have this in their portfolio can apply. Universities can:

  • Collaborate with leading cultural and creative organizations and professionals from different countries and disciplines

  • Contribute to the development of innovative solutions and best practices for the cultural and creative sectors
  • Showcase their excellence and impact in the cultural and creative fields

What discipline is it aimed at?

Creative Europe is particularly relevant for researchers and educators in creative arts disciplines such as visual arts, performing arts, literature, music, architecture, design, fashion, film, television, radio, video games, virtual reality, and augmented reality. These disciplines are covered by Creative Europe's Culture and Media pillars, which support a wide range of projects aiming to:

  • Strengthen the artistic quality, diversity, and circulation of European cultural and creative works
  • Enhance the skills, competencies, and employability of cultural and creative professionals
  • Increase the audience reach, engagement, and participation in European cultural and creative activities
  • Promote social inclusion, intercultural dialogue, and European identity through culture and creativity
