FilosoFilm: Starship Troopers (1997)
On Friday May 3rd (18.00-21.00 hours), the Philosophy Student Committee will have their first and only philosophical movie night of the semester: FilosoFilm!
Main content
The idea behind FilosoFilm is to invite a professor to screen one of their favourite movies and relate it somehow to philosophy. For this edition, we have invited the one and only logical option: Pål Antonsen! If you have ever taken a class taught by Pål, you cannot have missed all his movie references. Ranging from references to his beloved Tom Cruise to the Hobbits in The Lord of the Rings, we could not wish for a better professor to kick of this first edition!
On Friday, we'll screen arguably one of the greatest satirical Sci-Fi movies ever: Starship Troopers (1997)! A movie ironically portraying a future militaristic society, which comes into conflict with an alien species. It has been directed by Paul Verhoeven (known from e.g. Total Recall and Basic Instinct) and stars, among others, Neil Patrick Harris and Denise Richards. Don't miss it!
There will be food and beverages. Students (incl. former students) and staff are invited. After this event everybody is welcome to join to Ad Fontes, where those interested can enjoy Ad Fontes' discounted Friday drinks.
