Election of members to the University Board spring 2024

The polling station is open from April 15 at 09.00am until April 18 at 12.00 pm. The election is electronic and is conducted as an instant-runoff voting. You can give your vote to one, two or all the candidates by ranking them in order of preference.

Who can vote?

If you are eligible, you also have the right to vote.

You are eligible if you when the election starts:

• are employed in a temporary academic position
• have been employed in a minimum 50 % position for the coming 12 months or 
• have been consecutively employed for at least 12 months.

According to the Universities and Colleges Act representatives for group B (temporary academic staff) must be elected each year to the University Board. The candidates will be elected for the term 2024.08.01 – 2025.07.31. One member and at least two substitute members must be elected by and among the employees in group B.

The election takes place between 09.00 a.m. on Monday April 15, and 12.00 p.m. on Thursday April 18, 2024.

Right to nominate:

You can nominate candidates if you, when the elections starts:

• are employed in a temporary academic position
• have been employed in a minimum 50 % position for the coming 12 months or
• have been consecutively employed for at least 12 months in minimum 50 % position

The same criteria apply to the nominated candidates. The candidates must also understand Norwegian.

The nomination must be submitted by at least the same number of nominators as the number of candidates the nomination contains. No one can submitt more than one proposal.

How to proceed:

• The nomination must be in writing.
• The nominated candidates must be eligible and have been asked if they are willing to run for election.
• The nomination must have been submitted to valgstyret@uib.no no later than March 1, at 12:00 p.m.
