The Core Facility for Metabolomics is a platform at the University of Bergen that performs LC-MS/MS analysis of small (< 2000 Da) molecules. The core facility have established validated methods for steroid hormones and drugs related to endocrine treatment of breast cancer.

The Faculty of Medicine has established a Core Facility for Metabolomics in collaboration with Bergen Hospital Trust and the Western Norway Regional Health Authority. The core facility is located in the Laboratory building at Haukeland University Hospital in Bergen, Norway.

The research laboratory is equipped with three liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) units. The core facility is specialized in ultra-sensitive methods in very low sample volumes. This includes time-series measurments of hormones in interstitial fluid. The laboratory also have validated methods for measuring drug concentrations of tamoxifen, ulipristal and celecoxib.

In addition to the established methods, we also provide development of new methods for quantitation of small molecules (<2000 Da).
