Method development

Main content

The core facility for metabolomics can develop new targeted LC-MS/MS methods for small molecules (<2000 Da). A quantitative targeted method means that a we set up a method to measure specific pre-determined compounds. Typical examples of small molecules includes most drugs, vitamines, hormones and metabolites.

This core facility have special expertise in extremely senstitive, low sample volume, time-series profiles.

Necessary Information for Method Development

  • Which substances are to be measured?

  • What type of sample material will be analyzed?

  • Available sample volume.

  • How many samples/projects are relevant, and what is the timeframe?

Useful Information for Method Development

  • Physical and chemical properties of the substance, including any structural heterogeneity and chemical stability.

  • Challenges related to sample preparation and chromatography.

  • Any previous methods used, particularly those based on mass spectrometry
