It was a proud Deputy Director at Bergen Offshore Wind Centre (BOW), Christian Guillermo Gebhardt, who presented the new e-learning course.

The course has been developed as a result of the increased demand for greener energy, and due to Norwegian industries need for new knowledge to support them in their green transition.

The EU plans extensive investments in wind energy over the next decades, and although Norway has world-leading and longstanding experience and expertise in offshore operations, we lack specific knowledge on offshore wind.

UiB and Bergen Offshore Wind Centre are devoted to contribute with research and education at a high international level to ensure Norway remains at the forefront of delivering renewable energy and offshore operations.

Moving forward
Deputy Director Christian Guillermo Gebhardt has further plans for new e-learning courses.

“Our Online Introduction course to offshore wind has gone through an extensive user-test by people from diverse industry backgrounds and they have provided us with very useful information. We are grateful for their time and feedback, and we will use their input as we continue to develop our e-learning offerings based on the newest and most up-to-date research” says Christian Guillermo Gebhardt.

“We are currently exploring the possibility for two master courses on offshore wind to be part of an continued education offering.  Our master courses are becoming increasingly popular and we also have mature students with extensive work experience attending these courses. One of our best master students has worked for more than 20 years in the gas and oil industry” says Gebhardt.

-This inspires and motivates us to keep presenting new introductions to the world offshore wind.
