Dresscode in the Animal Facility

The use of PPE in the animal facility serves two purposes Protect the person from exposure to animal allergens and potential zoonotic agents Protect the animal from exposure to potentially harmful infectious and infectious agents.

When you entering barrier at the Animal Facility and prepare for work with the rodents the instructions are as following:

Entering the sluice at the Animal Facility follow the instructions given at the poster on the wall 

  • Change to blue / white scrubs that you find in the wardrobe   
  • You should use either your own shoes - only for use in the Animal facility - or use shoe covers
  • Wash your hands
  • During the Corona-pandemic you must also wear respiratory protection

Entering rodent rooms room or labs

  • When you go to Animal rooms or laboratories and work directly with the Animals you must
  • Wear respirators / Dust Mask* (with P2 filter) protects your respiratory tract and also protects the animals against drip contamination from you.   
  • Hair nets pick up allergens from urine and epithelium, so you avoid bringing them home.   
  • Gloves protect you from allergens in urine.   
  • Coats prevent you from carrying allergens around the ward.   
  • Own shoes or shoe covers for use only in the Animal Department protect you from entering the ward and bring you out of the ward.

*During the corona-situation masks must be put on already when entering the animal facility – this is mainly to protect the regular staff

Entering large animal facility

When you reach the sluice in the Animal Department and go to the pigs:   

  • Change to green scrubs that you find in the wardrobe   
  • You should use either your own shoes - only for use in the Animal Department - or use shoe covers   
  • If you are only to visit the operating halls without direct contact with the animals, use green overcoat

Other visitors

Visitors or staff that do not work directly with animals use an overcoat or shoe-covers/shoes for use in the animal facility
