How to apply for Doctoral Candidate positions in TargetRNA

Who can apply - eligibility rules 

The applicants need to meet several requirements to be eligible for this position.

Mobility rule: 

Researchers can be of any nationality, but they are required to undertake physical, transnational mobility (i.e., move from one country to another) when taking up their appointment.

Additionally, researchers shall not have resided or carried out their main activity in the country of their host organization for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to the reference date.

Researchers who are refugees in an EU Member State or a Horizon Europe Associated Country according to the Geneva Convention are exempted from the mobility rules above if they fulfil the other eligibility conditions. 

Doctoral Candidates (DCs) rule: 

Applicants should have scientific experience and must, at the date of recruitment, be in the first four years (full-time equivalent research experience) of their research careers.

Applicants must be doctoral candidates, i.e. not already in possession of a doctoral degree at the date of the recruitment.

Applicants must meet the admission requirements of the doctorate degree program of the corresponding university of the position. 

How to apply - application requirements 

The applicant must apply via Jobbnorge before the deadline. The deadline is final and content cannot be altered thereafter.

It is essential that all required attachments are uploaded via our electronic recruiting system JobbNorge. Applicants that do not follow the instructions will not be considered.

Applicants can apply for up to 3 positions in the doctoral network TargetRNA. See instructions on how to specifiy the positions below.

  • Motivation letter (see instructions below)
  • CV with publications (see instructions below)
  • References contact information (see instructions bellow)
  • Mobility declaration (see instructions below)
  • Transcripts of diplomas in English

Instructions for application:

Motivation letter: In Jobbnorge, use the "Application text"  field for your motivation letter. No seperate attachement is necessary. The letter must clearly state for which position(s) you apply for. Further, you need to detail how you fulfill the reqirements for all DC position(s) you apply for. (You can apply for up to 3 positions).

CV: In the "JobbNorge-CV form": Only fill in your 1) personal details, 2) short information about your degrees (in the field "Education / academic qualifications") and 3) recent relevant work experience (in the field "Work experience"). In addition attach a full CV (see below).

References: In the "JobbNorge-CV form", under "References": List the names of at least two references with the correct contact information and a work E-Mail address.

You do not need to fill in any other sections in the JobbNorge-CV form, as all the information we need will be provided by you when attaching the mandatory elements listed below:

  • CV detailing your education, the full scientific track record, relevant other achievements (or career breaks) and publications.
     
  • Signed mobility declaration, use the template provided at the bottom of this page (documents).
     
  • Transcripts of diplomas in English
    If you have not yet completed your master's degree, please submit a statement from your institution confirming the expected date of award of your master's degree. Your master's degree must be documented with transcripts and/or diploma, alternatively a confirmation from your institution on completed degree and your grade, by the date specified for each of the positions.

What happens after you have applied

Evaluation criteria and procedure

The applicants will be assesed by how well they fulfill the criteria for the job ad, in addition to their academic performance.

Online job interwiews with promising applicants will be performed by interview comitees at the beginning of October.

Employment

The successful applicant will be employed, three-year (36 months) full-time employment, by the host institution on a fixed-term employment contract, except if otherwise stated in the job ad for the DC position. Compensation includes monthly salary and reimbursement of expenses induced by the conduct of studies and research.

You will also be enrolled in a PhD program. Details can be found in the ads for the respective DC positions.
