Litteraturkiosken is a portal for selling excerpts from study literature to students at UiB. Students can access Litteraturkiosken via a link at the top of the reading list in Leganto or through the "Litteraturkiosken" menu item in MittUiB. The price per page is NOK 0.89.

In MittUiB, there is a user guide on how to edit and create reading lists, including information on creating references for Litteraturkiosken.

Note: If you add or remove references tagged with "Litteraturkiosken" after the list has been processed and published, you must report this to the digitisation staff and those who processed the reading list at the library.

What can be uploaded to Litteraturkiosken?

The Kopinor agreement covers up to 15% of a single book or similar publication per course per semester, or one article from a single issue of an academic journal. This means that we do not need to seek permission to use the excerpt, but it must still be registered by the library in the Bolk system (Kopinor).

For use beyond the limits set by the Kopinor agreement, rights clearance can still be sought, within UiB's guidelines:

  • If one chapter from a book on sale exceeds 15%, we can apply for extended rights clearance
  • For books that are no longer in sale, we can apply for rights up to 100%

It is up to the rights holder to decide whether we are granted extended rights clearance, and there is no guarantee that permission will be granted even if an excerpt was approved in a previous semester. If the application is denied, the library will contact the list owner(s) and provide information. If desired, the excerpt can still be shortened to up to 15% and uploaded to Litteraturkiosken.

Note: Material that is already electronically available via the University Library's online resources should not be added to Litteraturkiosken.
