Search History in Oria
Gain control over your search history and enhance your search experience with the new search history settings.
Main content
Oria allows users to save their search history and use it for enhanced search suggestions. Users gain control and can decide themselves what happens to their search log.
On this page, you will learn how to manage and adjust the search history settings in Oria.
Accessing Search History
To find your search log, click the "My Favorites" pin icon in the top menu in Oria and select the "Search History" tab. From here, you can view, reuse or manage your previous searches. Note that your search history is private and accessible only to you - library staff cannot view it.
If your search log is empty and you wish to keep your search history beyond a single session, you can adjust this setting in your user account in Oria.
Configuring Search History Settings
To adjust your search history preferences, sign in to Oria, click your name at the top right corner of the screen, and select "My Personal details and settings" from the menu. In the "Personal settings" section, you can decide whether to retain your search history between sessions and whether to use it for search suggestions.
Persistent Search History Feature
When you activate "Allow saving my search history" option, your searches will not be deleted when you close the browser window and end your user session. The next time you open Oria, you will have access to your searches from previous sessions. This way you can easily resume your research where you last left off.
Enhanced Search Suggestions Feature
When "Use my search history for search suggestions" feature is enabled, Oria uses your search history to provide personalized autocomplete suggestions in future searches, helping you find related materials more efficiently. Unsigned users will only receive suggestions based on their current session, and this history will not be saved.
Search history and unsigned users
Each time you perform a search, and are not signed into Oria, your queries are temporarily saved, allowing you to revisit them as needed. By default, these records are erased once your session ends.
