Terms and conditions for use of Bergen Open Access Publishing (BOAP)
The following terms and conditions apply to both journals and book series. For book series, exceptions to certain terms may be made by agreement with the University Library (UB).

- The journal must be open access.
- Access must be free.
- Access must not have restrictions in the form of usernames/passwords or on IP addresses.
- The creation of a new journal must have academic and scientific justification.
- The journal must have procedures for peer review and must meet the minimum requirements for a level 1 journal.
- The journal must follow OASPAs Code of Conduct: http://oaspa.org/membership/membership-criteria/
- The journal must be published with a Creative Commons (CC) license. UB recommends a CC BY license, but the editorial team may also choose CC BY-SA or CC BY-NC. The license must be approved by the author, and it must be clearly displayed on the journal’s website, on each article, and in full text (PDF). A machine-readable version of the license must also be included in the article.
- Authors must retain copyright without restrictions but grant the journal the right to be the first publisher.
- The journal must have a connection to the University of Bergen. For example, the editor, editorial members, or the journal's administrative staff must be employed by the institution.
- The journal must have a realistic publication policy and publish at least six articles or peer-reviewed contributions in other formats annually.
- Published articles must meet the required accessibility standards.
- If the terms of use are not followed, UB may remove the journal from BOAP.
- Terms and conditions may be changed.
