Overnight March 12-13, UiB became a digital university. This meant everything, even the pinnacle of university study – PhD Defences – went online. The transformation is working - thanks to the concerted efforts of many.
The world has experienced several devastating epidemics. One of the worst was the Spanish flu, that ravaged between 1918 and 1920. The epidemic probably killed more people than the First and Second World Wars together.
During his Erasmus internship in the Arnesen lab, Tobias B. Beigl took great interest in his project on the recently identified NAA80 enzyme. Beigl was on an interesting and important research track and stayed on for a Master’s project trying to figure out why cells lacking NAA80 typically had a more fragmented Golgi apparatus. In our annual report we write about ongoing and future research related to the Centre for Elderly and Nursing Home Medicine (SEFAS).
CCBIO operates within the health services in addition to the Faculty of Medicine at the UiB and is subject to the guidelines issued by both institutions (see below links). As a consequence, we are reducing our activities accordingly. Please check the calendar for details. Notably, the CCBIO Annual Symposium and the Satellite Symposium have been cancelled.
The Norwegian government has decided that all universities are to close from 6 p.m. 12 March 2020 until Easter. The Faculty of Medicine provides information on how to deal with the outbreak of the coronavirus as a student and as an employee.
'Global Health Priority-Setting: Beyond Cost-Effectiveness' discusses a new framework for priority-setting in global health. A book launch was hosted by the Center for Global Development in Washington DC on 27 February 2020.
